Who I am

Hi, I'm Michael Banson. I'm a high school student near Albany, New York, and I'm a writer myself. I published a children's picture book called The Panda, the Lion, and the Magic Kazoo, a story about a panda who wishes his way into a life with no chores and learns what his parents actually do all day.

Writing that book taught me something I didn't expect: the hard part isn't the writing, it's finishing. Most young writers I know have a folder full of half-finished drafts nobody has ever read.

Why this club exists

When I was writing my book, I ran into a lot of obstacles along the way, things nobody warned me about and that slowed me down more than they should have. I didn't want other young writers to have to hit those same walls alone, so I started this club to share what I learned and make sure nobody has to figure it out by themselves. We share what we know, we read each other's work, and we back each other up, so the stuff that tripped me up doesn't have to trip you up too. You don't need to be "a good writer" to be here. You need to want to write.
